Just think about how much physics has gotten out of this in the past centuries. One of the main victories of Einstien's field equations presented to the Prussian Academy in 1915 was that they explained the precession of the perihelion of Mercury - data which was built up in astronomy over centuries. Psychology has been almost uniquely shortsighted and wasteful in it's high-handedness where data is concerned.

Excellent trivia; great point.
